I always try to go to Central Market's annual Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration. It actually makes me feel so good to partake in an event that celebrate our culture and see the colorful tradition that makes us Malaysian because all I ever do is go to fashion show, product launch and food review that most of the time are not even Malaysian. Like Korean food which I really hate...

Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth month according to the Chinese lunar calendar. It is the second most important festival after the Chinese New Year. It takes its name from the fact that it is always celebrated in the middle of the autumn season. The day is also known as the Moon Festival, as at that time of the year the moon is at its roundest and brightest.

As for Central Market Kuala Lumpur, the city's tourist hub turns 130 years old this year. Its Mid-Autumn Festival event will be held in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur Hawkers and Petty Traders Association (KLHPTA) this 22 September 2018.

The day-long celebration will be officiated by YB Tuan Mohamaddin bin Ketapi (Minister of Tourism & Culture Malaysia). It is set to feature all the gorgeous colours of culture through a set of hands-on activities and thrilling stage performance. Visitors will get to relive childhood memories by experiencing a nostalgic lantern parade around Central Market and Petaling Street led by Dato’ Ang Say Tee (Chairman of KLHPTA). Lanterns are provided for the parade, which will be accompanied by vibrant lion dance and dragon dance.

With aim to promote the uniqueness and liveliness of Malaysian culture through vivid and rich cultural elements at the event, Central Market's Mid-Autumn Festival celebration this year will also feature live acrobatic show, fire eater show, stunt show, martial art performance, lion dance and dragon dance as well as graceful multiracial dance for everyone to experience.

Everyone should come and learn about the heritage and tradition through hands-on booth activities like lantern-making and mooncake-making as well as food tasting, Chinese calligraphy and fun riddles all for free at the venue, especially for our younger generations and tourists from all across the globe to try.

Mid-Autumn Festival will be taking place at Central Market Outdoor Stage this 22 September 2018 from 5:00pm to 9:30pm.

See you there.
